Some pics from a recent delivery day

Morning looking out our back door, by our bathroom sink(which happens to be at the end of our living room, and not in the bathroom!

Crates of corn and eggplant ready to pack for delivery

Newspaper wrapped greens

Taking the outer husk off the corn

Putting the veggies into bags for each CSA member that is being delivered to that day

Me in front of the big fridge and packing room which is attached to the side of our house

Ma Obasan harvested red chiso, a Japanese herb, maybe kind of like a basil?

Oriesan and Aatan(weekly Mon/Tues. volunteer) harvesting greens

eggs and the tablet hanging in the chicken house to record how many eggs/day and how much feed given to each room of chickens so egg production vs feed can be monitored and adjusted

Eggs!

The egg storage room, newly equipped with a evaporative cooler

Akiko just finishing sifting bran from whole wheat flour and packing for an order

Nai-Nai(Akiko's mom) starting to prepare lunch for the crew

Ken-Ken, Kai and Lucas entertaining themselves while we are packing in the community house called the Plum House, where the kitchen/dining room etc are

Volunteer weeding in the rice field, see the ripe rice kernels! Before they are mature if you squeeze the husk a sweet milky liquid is inside, somehow I was surprised by this, Sage thought that's how they make rice milk!

Two of the 6 rice fields

A view back towards the village and ski mountain behind it from the the rice fields you just saw. Japanese winter squash, kabocha in the foreground and then corn
